No, we’re not talking about the creation of life on earth, but the birth of a website designed for the benefit of Hertford Heath residents.
We are so lucky to live in a village with so many clubs and activities to suit all ages and interests, but with so much going on it’s hard to keep up with what’s on and where. And many clubs and societies are actively looking for new members.
The Parish Council recognise the need to keep everyone informed and have embarked on a series of projects to offer support for community groups and local businesses. The idea of having a directory is by no means new, but as a local authority, the Parish Council can’t be seen to promote the activities of a business or to favour one community group more than another.
Hertford Heath Life was created after consulting the Parish Council with three clear aims:
- To offer a place where community groups can promote their activities.
- To create a directory of events, both large and small.
- To allow businesses to advertise their services and offer discounts and special offers.
Major annual events such as the Village Fayre and the firework display have their own dedicated pages as does the environmental initiative ‘Sustainable Hertford Heath’.
The key to keeping the site going is ‘self-management’. All the businesses and groups using the site have their own control panel from where they can add or amend their entries which will always remain FREE OF CHARGE for them.
Commercial organisations from neighbouring towns can advertise in the directory for a nominal fee but all entries are subject to monitoring to ensure that only entries relevant to residents will be published.
