Hertford Heath Rocks!

Local residents, from the Heath and beyond, have been decorating rocks in earnest to contribute to The Great Hertford Heath Rock Trail.

Rock painting has been growing in popularity over the last few years with many different groups set up on Facebook, both regionally and nationally, to encourage members to post photos of their rocks and then hide them wherever they like for someone else to find. Its proven to be a very popular activity, particularly among parents whose children love the adventure of finding hidden treasures. But its not just for the young!

Hertford Heath's very own trail started as a humble suggestion to try and stretch a line of painted rocks from the fairy tree in Mount Pleasant all the way to the village green by 11th November (after the Armistice events), and as of today, is well on the way to achieving that! Halloween, Fireworks and Armistice themes were encouraged to coincide with these great events in our village, however any painted rock is encouraged to help extend the line.

If anyone yet to try the art would like some tips, there are plenty of websites, blogs and facebook groups that can help you get started.

If you do get involved, remember not to take any away until after 1pm on Sunday 11th November 2018 where everyone is welcome to take some to keep or to keep rehiding for someone else to find.
